OVERVIEW
Village Food Hub is a nonprofit organization founded to strengthen our community food system and make it more equitable by increasing access to healthy and nutritious food, while also reducing waste and promoting environmental sustainability.
The pantry had no system to track its food inventory or to record demographic information about the individuals who donate or receive food, which is key for grant applications.
Our JumboCode team's solution was to create a web-app that keeps track of Village Food Hub's overall pantry inventory and collects the demographics of food pantry customers, streamlining the information into a digestible and usable format.
STAGE 1: RESEARCH
In the initial weeks of the project, I met with the client and visited the food pantry, to gather requirements and define the problem scope. To gain deeper insights, I observed how 4 customers interacted with the pantry, mapping their process to understand how a demographic survey interface could best fit into the workflow and identify potential pain points of this new feature.
STAGE 2: DESIGN
Using these findings, I synthesized key requirements and began creating mid-fidelity wireframes. To ensure my designs aligned with the technical constraints, I collaborated with the project manager and technical lead, validating workflows and ensuring compatibility between the design and the back-end architecture.
Throughout the high-fidelity prototyping phase, I met regularly with our client to present designs and gather feedback. The design culminated in a video deliverable showcasing a complete walkthrough of the finalized design to the client to get approval regarding all the features.
STAGE 3: DEVELOPMENT & TESTING
Once the screens were finalized, I handed off the designs to the developers and conducted ongoing quality checks, ensuring the implementation closely matched the Figma designs in both styling and functionality.
